Shed’s Last Stand: Planning an Upgrade

Shed’s Last Stand: Planning an Upgrade

This is the second outbuilding on the property and also in the sightline of the insurance company – meaning it has to go. Much like the summer kitchen, it too is falling apart, with a large hole in the roof and well on its way to collapse. However, this isn’t original to the property, so it’s not a big deal to see it go. I was guessing it may have been built around the 1930s or 40s, but honestly, I have no idea. I dropped this photo into ChatGPT, and it estimated its construction somewhere between 1920-50, so there you go.

There’s no basement in the house or garage other than this structure, so a new shiny metal garage/shop will take its place. We’ll need room to park cars, but more importantly, to store materials as we work on the house. We’ll try to emulate the colors and structure of this old shed to some degree – keeping as much of a barn-like feel as possible.

I haven’t picked a manufacturer/contractor or even a size yet, and my head is running wild with various ideas. However, it’ll have to wait a bit, as there’s plenty to do related to closing and getting our current home on the market. So, the timeline remains TBD for now.
