We finally did it! Late last week, we poured the main garage slab, amidst the rain, power outages, and everything else.
I’m hopeful this will be the toughest part of the build, considering the strange mix of issues we faced: the foundation setup, tricky soil, the fill rock, and the rain. It felt like everything was working against us, but now the slab is capped, and things should be good moving forward.
Of course, we still have a lot more concrete to pour — another 1,560 sq ft for the porches and the parking pad in front of the garage. That’s almost as much as the main slab itself! Fingers crossed it happens next week.
This week’s agenda: get the water line connected and buried, and install the gas line before the porch pour.
The roofer, unfortunately, seems to have gone MIA, so it’s back to the drawing board on that front. Honestly, if I wasn’t living through this, I’d have a hard time believing it myself. Construction is hard work, full of setbacks, but we’ll survive and get it done… eventually!
Maybe, just maybe, we’ll start building on the 25th… nah…
