Steady Progress: Not Much to Show

Steady Progress: Not Much to Show

In some ways it’s been slow… the calm before the storm.

We did manage to get someone out and clean all HVAC ducts, I’ll spare you the photos… I’m not sure it was bad enough, but we’re still trying to get house to a known state, so glad we did it.

We finally settled on a building and builder for the garage-shop. We opted for a stick-built 30×56 metal-clad building with a 10×56 lean-to for a porch. Can’t get over just how expensive concrete has gotten, but I guess everything is expensive these days. Donaldson, who did our demo earlier, will handle all the digging, and they lined up someone for the flat work.

Building permit was applied for and issued, and Taylor was kind enough to educate me a bit on the inspection process… Clearly I wasn’t the first clueless person he’s walked through a project like this. At this point, we’re waiting for our turn on the schedule and hoping the weather works in our favor.

Spent a bit of time continuing to clean up the yard – 4 acres of it… That translates to lots of seat time on the lawn mower, brush burning, and stick picking up. I swear these trees shed more than the cats do.

And oh, one hellacious case of poison ivy that resulted in an urgent-care visit Easter morning… oh the joy!
